In August, Medellín known as the “city of eternal spring” celebrates the Festival of the Flowers. The festival is the most important social event in the city and takes place every year for 10 days. It's a traditional event in which different activities and events are performed, celebrating the flowering and customs of the region.

In 2014 EPM (Residential public utilities company of Medellín) and Silex, an Innovation group conformed by students, professors, and alumni of EAFIT, came together to build the Giants of Flowers. They are sculptures of steel, covered by more than 150,000 flowers, located in the most important places in Medellín, decorating the city and allowing visitors to observe the beauty of the flowers and to remember traditional figures of Antioquia.
